JOB POSTING Bilingual Healthy Homes Remediation/Education Specialist DUTIES:
• Assist Program Manager in developing a detailed Plan of Remediation Action (PORA) and assist the family in implementing the Plan through training and the supplying of all cleaning materials, safety devices and measures recommended. • Develop workshops for the general public around Healthy Home's issues and working with staff hold 10 workshops in 30 months. • Work with Brockton Neighborhood Health Center to develop innovative ways to present education on environmental health problems. • Work with Brockton’s Promise Youth to seek a minimum of 10 stipend volunteers, provide training, supervision and support to Healthy Homes Families. • Develop education materials in a variety of languages and disseminate through out the service area. • Do home visits with Healthy Families staff and individually and provide individual, one-on-one training to family members. • Assist, when necessary, with the preparation and remediation of environmental hazards in homes of families participating in the program. • Other duties as assigned.
• A minimum of associate’s degree in housing or human services; good organizing skills; 2 years experience as an educator or providing family education; and a strong working knowledge of housing issues, sanitary codes and regulations and related fields. • Prior home visiting experience preferred. • Prior Greater Brockton Area community advocacy and outreach experience preferred. • Must have a valid driver’s license. • Must have access to a car (for home visiting in wide service area). • Willingness to travel throughout the county providing home visits.
